Top: Madewell | Skirt: Brandy Melville | Sandals: Sam & Libby for Target | Necklace: Free People | Ring: DIY (see the post here!)

Ah okay, so I missed posting this on Sunday by a few hours...merp sorry about that! Today's outfit is a casual summery outfit that Natalie kindly helped shoot for me. We were hanging out and having some fun with the new camera, and found some pretty cool settings for this OOTD (the tree was probably my favorite of the day, haha!). We were also melting because the weather has yet to cool down lately. I love the mixture of stripes and floral, and I was in the mood for putting together a light outfit with this combo.

Nothing much to say really about this one, hope you all have a great week!

'Til next time!

A DIY Attempt

IMG_0045

IMG_0243

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, school has started and I'm already feeling slightly overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do. Sadly, this probably means I'll be posting less frequently…but I want to try and have at least one blog post a week up so we'll see how that goes! Since my last post, I purchased my first DSLR camera (ahhh!) since my other camera is a bit broken. I've been interested in learning more about photography, and I'd also like my blog picture quality to be nicer. Ever since I posted the pictures Jeremy took for my last two DADJ posts, I have not been able to look at my pictures taken with my old camera in the same way…haha. I figured if there was a time to get a new camera, it'd be now, and after debating for about a month I decided on getting the Canon Rebel T3i (a HUGE thank you to my parents for the early birthday present). I'm still learning how to adjust the various settings, so bear with me as I work on my photography skills!

This DIY attempt was from a few weeks ago, when a few of my friends and I decided to have a jewelry-making hangout. I searched through Pinterest for some ideas, and decided to try making some wire rings. I tried looking for the specific pins that I got inspiration from, but couldn't find the exact ones. Just type in "DIY ring" into Pinterest and I'm sure you'll find 'em!

When I first found the bow design I knew I wanted to try it (it was actually kind of trickier than I thought it would be to make a nice bow…lol guess it just takes some practice), and I also wanted to try this midi ring style (with a slight variation on the design by using some Swarovski crystal beads). The midi ring ended up being my favorite! It was very easy to make for a jewelry-making newbie like myself, and I like that it's adjustable. Want to know why I ended up choosing this color assortment of beads? Well, it's because when I saw them at the store…they instantly reminded me of Frozen...haha! Anyways, since I still have a lot of wire left, next time I have spare time I may try out more DIY designs and report back.

Thought I'd start off with this post to get myself back into blogging mode again, hope everyone has a great week!

'Til next time!

P.S. These last two pictures are a bit of a preview for an upcoming outfit post! :)

Dress: Modcloth | Sandals: Prabal Gurung for Target | Midi ring: The Bohemian Collective | Metal Woven ring: White Leaf

It's finally here…day 31 of DADJ!! *gasp* I know it isn't July anymore, but thank goodness I was able to finish this up within the first bit of August. I couldn't have done it without the help of my friends/family, who gave up some of their time to help me take pictures (thank you so much to each of you, it was much appreciated!). It's been fun sorting through my wardrobe and picking dresses to wear in this very appropriate summer weather. But, I'm happy to be able to wear any clothes that suit my mood from now on (or until I decide to do some kind of themed posts in the future).

Anyways...I wanted to end DADJ on a bit of a "fancy" note, and so I decided one of my very favorite floral dresses (that I haven't really had many occasions to wear out) would be perfect. I love the color palette and cut of this dress, especially the back neckline (of course!). I paired the dress with my simple black sandals from Target, which have nice details but don't distract from the dress. Picture credit again goes to Jeremy, who also edited my pictures for today and day 30 (THANK YOU AGAIN JEREMY! This is exactly how I want my blog to be like from now on, and I'm happy to have ended DADJ with a "bang" :) ).

Hope that DADJ has been enjoyable/interesting, see you all sometime soon (hopefully) with another OOTD! Before I go, I'll leave you with one of the funniest derpy outtakes yet (a fitting outtake finale for DADJ, I think!):

Dress: Anthropologie | Shoes: TOMS | Bag: Madewell | Ring: Portobello market

Okay, so I have a bit of a confession to make about DADJ. There were times in July where all I did was stay at home, chill, and watch Youtube/Netflix…so some of these posts have been like "dress up" for me (hopefully you guys don't mind!). Day 30 and 31 are gonna be days like these, which I find to be pretty fun personally. I wanted to feature this red Anthropologie dress that Kristi gave me a couple years ago for Christmas, and the style of the dress made me want to try a more retro hair and makeup style. I wanted a shoe with some heel for this dress, so I went with my black TOMS wedges. My wonderful friend, Jeremy, who is pretty much the professional photographer of my friend group, kindly helped take/edit pictures for me (thanks for the creative direction too, hehe it helped a lot!)! I actually can't get over how nice the picture quality is, it's too much for me to handle (Jeremy knows exactly what I mean by this…ahaha).

Here's a laughing picture for the outtakes:

Until next time (for the last day of DADJ, woohoo!)!

Dress a Day in July: The Twenty-ninth

Dress: Levi's for Opening Ceremony | Shoes: American Eagle Outfitters | Midi ring: Topshop | Cat ring: Catbird | Silver band ring: Portobello market

This dress was a lovely thrift store find during my last trip to San Francisco! I was surprised to find something from Opening Ceremony, and I really liked that the dress is a simple silhouette that will likely not go out of style for a while. This is also made of a nice and thick chambray material, while is quite nice as well! Natalie helped me decide on shoes for this outfit, which are another closet rediscovery. The tie-around straps were what really drew me to these shoes in the first place, as they remind me a bit of ballet shoes.

My assortment of rings are from a few places. There's my midi ring from Topshop that I've featured in outfit posts before, my favorite cat ring from Catbird that was purchased in San Francisco last year, and a Portobello market find that I love for its simplicity.

Le outtake of the day:

Until next time! (Only two days left of DADJ…gasp!)

Dress a Day in July: The Twenty-eighth

Dress: Tracy Feith for Target | Shoes: Prabal Gurung for Target

Here's another head-to-toe Target look for ya on day 28! This white dress has been in my closet for about four years now…and there's a special reason as to why I purchased this dress in the first place. Starting around sophomore year, I became OBSESSED with Glee with a few of my other friends. My girl favorite on the show was Dianna Agron, who played Quinn. She actually wore this dress on the show, along with a cardigan that I also bought (*side look* hehe!). I have quite a few other pieces in my closet that were also inspired by Dianna/Quinn's style. So there's a fun fact about me, haha! These red wedges provided a nice pop of color in this outfit, and are another item in my closet that I need to try to wear out more often.

Here are a couple outtakes as per usual:

Dress a Day in July: The Twenty-seventh

Dress: Modcloth | Sandals: American Eagle Outfitters

Day 27 was a lovely day spent with Natalie, Megan, and Anthony painting at Color Me Mine. I wore this simple and comfortable Modcloth dress. I like the bright multicolored pattern, and the fact that the dress has some back detailing as well. Once again, I paired the dress with my trusty woven sandals.

Here's an outtake…Natalie managed to capture this very strange moment, and I really have no clue as to what I was doing at this point. Haha!

Until next time!
