OOTD #5: March 5 (It's All in the Details)

Top: Zara | Jeans: A&F | Oxfords: Madewell | Earrings: Macy's | Leather Bracelet: gift

On this day the sun was shining and it was in the low to mid 50's…it was actually wonderful! I think I may be getting slightly more tolerant to the cold while being here, gasp. I took advantage of the nice weather and was eager to wear my new top from Zara. The lace detailing on the shoulders of the top is what drew me in, as well as the cut of the neckline and the combination with the stripes. Since there was no rain in the forecast, this also prompted me to break out my favorite oxfords.

It's the Little Things

Hello all! Just wanted to write a little bit about part of my day (gasp, a current post?!). Today was not hugely eventful, as all I had planned was working on a theatre review and then heading to my art class later in the day. For my art class we visited the Tate Modern, where we looked at modernism in art and saw works from the likes of artists such as Picasso and Dali. It was a typical gallery visit in my art class, and the works that we saw were very interesting.

But the art seen in my art class is not the subject of this mini post. As Jackie, Regan, and I were walking along Millennium Bridge to make our way to the tube station, suddenly Jackie stopped to seemingly take a picture of the walkway that we were walking along. I was a bit confused as to what she could possibly be taking a picture of, but then I noticed the tiny (about the length of my thumb) colorful spaceship embedded in the grooves of the walkway. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were quite a few of these little pieces of art scattered along the bridge, and seeing the little spaceship was an unexpected but happy little surprise.

OOTD #4: March 7 (Laid-back Denim on Denim)

Grey denim button down: Brandy Melville | Black T-shirt: Target | Jeans: American Eagle | Shoes: Converse | Necklace: Free People | Ring: Brandy Melville | Leather Bracelet: Disneyland, gift from Natalie!

I had quite the relaxed Friday last week and didn't have too much planned during the day, so I decided to dress pretty casually. I actually wore this outfit a week before and had snapchatted my OOTD to Melyssa, to which I got a snapchat in reply telling me to "OOTD dat s***!" This made me laugh, and is what prompted me to repeat this outfit and make this post, haha! For some reason this outfit makes me feel like I'm channeling Kristen Stewart…and I kind of like that about it. It's a bit of a change from the slightly more girly outfits that I tend to wear (the first thing my friend/photographer, Jackie, said to me when I knocked on her door was that I looked quite different that day), but it's always fun to switch things up every now and then.

Happy Pancake Day!

Today is my first time celebrating Pancake Day, and I must say I was pretty excited to have breakfast this morning (I even cut back on my late night snacking in preparation of a sort of big breakfast, haha!).   Here is my understanding of the story behind Pancake Day, courtesy of Wikipedia and Sorted Food's Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes video: Pancake Day (aka Shrove Tuesday) is the day before Lent begins, and during Lent fatty/rich foods are usually given up. So, this would be the day to take the opportunity to indulge in those fatty/rich foods before having to give them up for Lent, and one traditional way to use up fatty ingredients like butter was to use them to make pancakes!
